Father freed as rape claim changed
An 80-year-old Austrian man held on suspicion of raping his daughters over a period of 41 years has been freed after the women involved changed their story.
The state prosecutor's office said the two women still say they were sexually molested, but they now claim that another man - not their father - was responsible and that the alleged assaults happened some time in the past.
The prosecutor's office said that version is now being checked and the original suspect has been released after weeks of investigative custody in an Upper Austrian jail.
The two daughters are now 53 and 45. Officials said one has slight and the other has more severe mental disabilities.
