Ferdinand Marcos's burial at heroes cemetery given go-ahead by president
Former Philippine dictator Ferdinand Marcos can be buried at a cemetery for heroes, said the country's president.
President Rodrigo Duterte added he will allow anti-Marcos protesters to hold public demonstrations against the move.
Mr Duterte said Marcos, who died in 1989, is qualified to be buried at the military-run cemetery as a soldier and as a former president.
The planned burial may be held on September 18, according to the Philippine Star which quoted Marcos's son and namesake, former senator Ferdinand Marcos.
Mr Duterte disclosed that he once voted for Marcos as president and that his late father, a politician, had served in Marcos's cabinet.
Marcos family representatives have gone to the cemetery to choose a burial site and make preparations ahead of final arrangements, said an army spokesman.
