Five children die in French crash

French President Francois Hollande spoke of his sadness after the accident

A truck and a minibus have collided near the northeastern French city of Troyes, leaving six people dead - including five children.

French President Francois Hollande issued a statement expressing his sadness and shock at the accident in the town of Courteranges.

It is not immediately clear what caused the accident, and Mr Hollande has asked for an investigation.

French TV showed footage of the small minibus completely smashed and the truck spun diagonally across a road in the countryside.

France's interior minister will visit the site of the crash later.
