A bus travelling from Ukraine to Warsaw in Poland has crashed, killing five people and injuring more than two dozen others.

Polish police spokesman Marek Kapusta said the driver probably fell asleep behind the wheel, causing the bus to cross into the opposite lane before landing in a ditch and hitting a tree near the village of Gorzno-Kolonia, about 47 miles south-east of Warsaw.

Mr Kapusta said the passengers were probably all Ukrainian.

He said three people were killed instantly and another two died in a hospital, while 25 other people, including two children, remain in hospital.
