German train 'axe attack': Police shoot dead man who injured passengers
German police have shot dead a man who injured multiple passengers on a train near the German city of Würzburg.
The dpa news agency reported that Wuerzburg police said the man attacked passengers on a regional train in Bavaria with "blunt and slashing" weapons and several people possibly had life-threatening injuries.
They would not comment on the German media reports that the man had attacked passengers with an axe.
The Bavarian interior ministry confirmed that police had shot and killed the attacker.
Several of the injured were said to be in a critical condition, Bayerischer Rundfunk radio reported.
Trains running between Würzburg and Ochsenfurt were cancelled.
