Girl gets back special teddy bear lost during airport shooting
A girl has been reunited with the teddy bear she left behind while fleeing during the deadly shooting at Fort Lauderdale airport in Florida.
Courtney Gelinas smiled as airport spokesman Greg Meyer opened the boot of his SUV to reveal Rufus, the teddy the 10-year-old had received from her dying grandfather a decade ago.
When Mr Meyer handed Rufus to Courtney, she held the bear tight.
Courtney, from Windsor, Ontario, was with her parents and siblings and about to board a plane home when Esteban Santiago is alleged to have fatally shot five people one floor below them on Friday.
Rufus was left behind as the family fled on to the tarmac.
Courtney has not slept well since, her mother said.
The airport is returning 25,000 stranded items.
