Gluttony threatens world food sources

People’s soaring weight and appetites could deplete the world’s food stocks and bring about the end of mankind, a shock survey has claimed.

Researchers fear the growing number of overweight people could place crippling demands on food sources and warned that battling rising population weight is crucial for “food security”.

The study, by the London school of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, said the predicted population growth of 2.3billion more people by 2050 could severely threaten global environmental sustainability, according to The Sun.

Professor Ian Roberts, who lead the survey, said: “Our study shows population fatness is also a major threat. Unless we tackle both population and fatness our chances are slim.”
