A police hunt is under way after a pet goat was killed in a drive-by shooting in the US.
Santa Fe police chief Aric Wheeler said his agency is extremely concerned because the shooting happened in a central city neighbourhood.
The suspect could face felony charges of shooting at an occupied building and negligent firearm use, as well as animal cruelty charges, Mr Wheeler told the Santa Fe New Mexican newspaper.
The shooting happened on Sunday evening and killed Maria, a Nigerian dwarf goat who lived with two other goats and several other animals at the home.
The two women who owned Maria did not want to be identified but one told the newspaper that neighbours regularly stop by to see her animals. She said the animals have brought the neighbourhood together.
