Great Train Robber Gordon Goody dies in Spain aged 86

A member of the British gang that pulled off the 1963 Great Train Robbery has died, officials in a Spanish beach town said.

Gordon Goody was 86 and had run a bar in the town of Mojacar after serving jail time in Britain for the heist.

Goody died on Friday morning at his home surrounded by friends, a statement from Mojacar's town hall said. It did not specify the cause of death.

Goody was sentenced to 30 years after being captured after the crime that saw thieves make off with £2.6 million from a Glasgow-to-London mail train.

He was released in 1975 and set up a beach bar four years later in Spain.
