German police are investigating two hackers who allegedly stole songs from Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Kesha and Kelly Clarkson, selling them online and forcing the advanced release of several singles.
Chief prosecutor in the city of Duisberg Rolf Haferkamp said that a 17-year-old student and a 23-year-old unemployed man earned more than 10,000 euro (£8,400) in illegal sales.
Mr Haferkamp said the two allegedly used trojan viruses to hack into the artists' computers for several months before being discovered.
The student, an amateur DJ, also allegedly downloaded a sexually compromising photo of one artist and used it to blackmail them.
The investigation should be concluded by January and could lead to criminal charges.
