Helen Mirren: Boycotting Israel over Palestine is mistaken
Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren has indicated she is a "believer" in Israel and voiced her opposition to calls to boycott it.
Mirren showered Israeli artists with praise and said she opposed boycott efforts by pro-Palestinian groups and a number of international artists.
The actress is in Israel to host the Genesis Prize, known as "the Jewish Nobel".
"I think that art is an incredibly important way of communication," she said.
"The artists of the country are the people you need to communicate with and make a relationship with and learn from and build upon. So I absolutely do not believe in the boycott, and here I am."
