Winter storms and a continuing shortage of de-icing fluid have caused scores of flights to be cancelled at German airports, while at least three people died on icy roads.
Frankfurt Airport saw 55 flights cancelled on Friday, while EasyJet grounded all of its planes at Berlin's Schoenefeld.
Even though snow has largely stopped falling, the quick onset of wintry conditions across Europe has caused a shortage of de-icing fluid needed for planes.
Airports say the situation should return to normal by the end of Friday.
Freezing temperatures have also caused widespread black ice on roads and scores of accidents.
