Indian cricketer Amit Mishra has been arrested and charged with causing grievous injuries to a woman in his hotel room last month in Bangalore.

Police declined to give details of the incident in the capital of southern Indian state Karnataka.

Mishra has been released on bail. If convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison.

The 32-year-old has played 16 test matches and 31 one-day internationals for India.
