Tehran is ready for talks with the West on its disputed nuclear programme, Iran's President Hasan Rouhani said as he prepares to head to New York for the UN General Assembly.
The latest appeal by the newly elected president came a day before his scheduled departure. Mr Rouhani, who has vowed to reach out to the world, has said the trip may be a chance to start a new round of nuclear negotiations.
The West suspects Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons, a charge Iran denies.
The speech at a military parade for the 33th anniversary of Iraq's 1980 invasion of Iran was carried live by state TV.
"The Iranian nation is ready for negotiation and talks with the West," Mr Rouhani said.
