Iranian footballers banned over buttock pinch

Published 02/11/2011 | 06:56

Iran's football federation has suspended two players from the top team after they were accused of performing an "inappropriate" goal celebration.

Mohammad Nosrati appeared to briefly put his hand between the buttocks of Sheys Rezaei as Persepolis players celebrated a goal against Damash Gilan on Saturday.

The gesture caused some outrage in Iran, with the ISNA news agency reporting that the federation will issue a final verdict on the players next week.
