A man has been arrested in Australia two years after absconding from prison where he was serving a nine-year sentence for causing death by dangerous driving, police said.
Marcus Barney, aged 27, was jailed at Oxford Crown Court in May 2007 after admitting the charge and failing to stop at a collision.
Carol Tegg, aged 26, died in the crash on July 31 2006 on the A4074, Reading Road, in Woodcote, Oxfordshire, - four days before her wedding, according to Thames Valley Police.
A force spokesman said: "Barney then absconded from HMP Sudbury after failing to return from temporary leave in August 2009.
"He has now been arrested and detained in New South Wales, Australia. He will be deported back to the UK to finish serving his sentence, following legal proceedings in Australia."
Sergeant Dick Thorpe, of Thames Valley Police's road death investigation team, said: "I am very pleased that this man will be brought back to serve the rest of his sentence. This will also prove a great relief to the family of Carol Tegg."
