Japanese man wants to marry cartoon character

Thursday, 6 November 2008

A Japanese man has enlisted hundreds of people in a campaign to allow marriages between humans and cartoon characters, saying he feels more at ease in the "two-dimensional world."

Comics books are hugely popular in Japan. Marriage is meanwhile on the decline as many younger people find it difficult to find partners.

Taichi Takashita launched an online petition aiming for one million signatures to present to the government to establish a law on marriages with cartoon characters.

"I am no longer interested in three dimensions. I would even like to become a resident of the two-dimensional world," explained Taichi Takashita. "Therefore, at the very least, would it be possible to legally authorize marriage with a two-dimensional character?"

That's it. Lock this guy up. He is obviously M.H.A., i.e. Mental.

they would first have to design some sort of artificial intelligence. the character would need a personality to make the decision to marry someone.

how would he know if the cartoon character was even interested in him? most celebrities aren't interested in stalkers.

He should come to Massachusetts. Our legislators decided they know best what marriage is or should be. Now it can be whatever anyone wants it to be. One man, one Woman. Two Men. Two Women. Why not a cartoon character? At least the other states that have banned the perversion of marriage got to vote on it.

If this actually works and everyone did so(I know they won't) civilization would cease to be.

Like Peach said, this kinda puts us anime viewers in a bad light.
Also, how exactly does a marriage with a fictional character work? Do you live with the writers? Animators?
Can other people marry said character? What if she says no?

I really don't see this happening, but crazy **** has gone down before...

I love anime and manga myself. I am an avid fan but I would NEVER consider this sane. Come on Belfast Telegraph get the image of that particular geirl from The Melancoly of Suzumiya Haruhi (the one with the ginger hair).

I think its very silly and puts Anime and Manga fans in a bad light.
