Major hurricane approaches US coast
Hurricane Danielle is continuing to make its way across the Atlantic Ocean towards the US and has reached major hurricane status, meteorologists have reported.
The National Hurricane Centre in Miami said Danielle has strengthened to a category three storm and has sustained winds of up to 120mph.
Forecasters say ocean swells churned up by the hurricane may reach the US east coast by the weekend.
Dangerous surfing conditions are likely in Bermuda, although the eye of the storm is likely to move east of the island.
Further east, a tropical storm is racing west over the Atlantic with winds near 45mph. Forecasters expect it to become a hurricane by early on Saturday.
In the Pacific Ocean off Mexico's coast, another hurricane has winds of 85mph.
