A man has been arrested in Philadelphia over the serial strangling of three women in the wake of DNA evidence.
Police say 21-year-old Antonio Rodriguez was taken into custody on an unrelated bench warrant after someone phoned in a tip.
The announcement came shortly after a news conference at which Captain James Clark said Rodriguez was being sought as a person of interest in the case.
Rodriguez is currently being held in custody.
Captain Clark says Rodriguez has not been charged with the stranglings, but he did describe a DNA link made by state police in their offender database as "a major break in the case".
Rodriguez was being sought on a bench warrant from a missed court appearance in an unrelated case.
