A man has been shot dead in an argument over mobile phone use in a cinema.

A woman was also shot and a suspect has been arrested.

Two couples were watching Lone Survivor at a cinema north of Tampa, Florida, when the suspect and his wife apparently took issue with the couple in front of them over use of the phones.

The ensuing argument led to the shooting. Both victims were taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

The man later died, but the female victim's injuries were not considered life-threatening.

A bystander detained the suspect until police arrived.
