Marine Le Pen probed over tweets showing Islamic State executions
France's interior minister has asked judicial police to look into tweets by far-right leader Marine Le Pen which show gruesome photos of beheadings and other Islamic State execution s.
Ms Le Pen's tweets came in response to a broadcast journalist broadly comparing her party to the extremist group.
Jean-Jacques Bourdin, known for his brash style, told French TV that her National Front party and IS share a "community of spirit" as they both focus on identity.
"Daesh is THIS!" Ms Le Pen said in tweets showing several executions, using the Arabic acronym for IS.
Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve told MPs he has taken the case to a section of the judicial police that deals with illicit content on the Internet.
He called the tweets "propaganda photos of Daesh".
