Mazda recall covers Europe and Asia
The recall of Mazda 3 and Mazda 5 vehicles to fix problems with the power-steering system will now include those sold in Europe and parts of Asia, the car maker said.
The Japanese firm said the recall would cover more than 500,000 vehicles globally.
The company had previously said the recall would include more than 300,000 Mazda 3 and Mazda 5 vehicles in North America from the 2007-2009 model years.
Mazda said the vehicles could lose power-steering assist, making it difficult for the driver to steer the vehicle and increase the risk of a crash.
Mazda spokesman Jeremy Barnes said the recall included 2007-2009 vehicles sold in Europe and parts of Asia, including China and Taiwan.
