Men face resort shooting charges

Four men face multiple charges after two people were injured in a shooting in a popular Florida beach resort.

Police said the incident in Clearwater Beach arose from fights between groups of people.

A spokeswoman said the first shots were fired by a group in a temporary parking garage near the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort and Spa. The other group was in the street.

At least two people were shot, one in the hand and the other in the groin area. The spokeswoman said the person who was shot in the hand fled the scene.

Access to the beach was cut off for a time, but later reopened to residents. The Hyatt was also closed as investigators searched room by room.

The shooting happened on the national Memorial Day holiday, which marks the deaths of US armed forces personnel.
