Michael Jackson 911 emergency call released
Saturday, 27 June 2009
The Los Angeles Fire Department has released the emergency call for help from Michael Jackson's home.
The call sent paramedics to Jackson's rented mansion in the Holmby Hills area of Los Angeles.
The paramedics took Jackson to nearby UCLA Medical Centre where he died.
The emergency call from Michael Jackson's home reported the star was not breathing or responding.
The unidentified emergency caller said Jackson was on a bed and was not responding to resuscitation efforts.
The caller said Jackson was with his personal doctor at the time.
Los Angeles County coroner's Lt Brian Elias said tonight a post-mortem began shortly after 5pm (BST) and could take three to four hours.
Additional laboratory tests, including toxicology tests, are likely and those results would not be known for several weeks.
After the pop icon's death was announced, Amazon.com sold out within minutes of all CDs by Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5, vice president of music and video Bill Carr said.
Mr Carr said 60 % of Amazon's CD orders were for Michael Jackson music, something he called "stunning".
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs says President Barack Obama saw pop star Michael Jackson as a spectacular performer and music icon whose life nonetheless had sad and tragic aspects.
Mr Gibbs said that Mr Obama sends his condolences to the late singer's family and fans.
The White House did not issue a statement following Jackson's death last night. Mr Gibbs did not mention Jackson until asked about him at today's regular White House briefing.
A collection of Michael Jackson memorabilia was up for auction in Las Vegas - a potentially lucrative coincidence just a day after the singer's death.
A celebrity auction at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino had been planned for months, and was promoted mostly as featuring Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe items.
But after Jackson's death, items likely to get more attention include a drawing of Mickey Mouse done by Jackson as a child, handwritten lyrics for his 1987 hit Bad, and a shirt the star wore on his 1984 Victory tour.
Auctioneer Darren Julien says they are from a collection owned by David Gest, the producer and promoter once married to Liza Minnelli. Jackson introduced the couple and was best man at their wedding.

There are not any words that could begin to express how heart wrenching this is for me. The sound of your name brings tears to my eyes and pain to my heart. The only way I can cope right now is to pretend this is a nightmare wanting to wake up. You have been my inspiration in all that I have done. Your music has taught me so much, you were my teacher. I am who I am today because of you. If I could trade places with you I would, you still had so much to give. I will always love you, and until we are all together in heaven, may you live forever.
My heart goes out to his family and his children. Many Blessings to you all, and may michael live on thru us all.

Is anyone else fed up of hearing about Michael Jackson. Are there not other people in the world dying?
He was a good entertainer but Elvis was a much better singer.

"Maybe if they mentioned that this was Jackson the emergency team would have been more enthusiastic." Yeah because one life is worth so much more than another! The guy on the phone did all that he could, he established there was a doctor at the scene and confirmed that the doc was more qualified than him to make the call and that an ambulance was on its way.

Is he going to be buried as a Muslim?

Listening to the call as an ER nurse, the caller does not seem to be reacting as if this just happened. It sounds like this started a while beforehand. Chect pain, symptoms that meant he should have been transported much sooner. Pumping his chest, an MD was not bagging him , if this dr was with him all of the time, did he have CRASH type equip with him to be prepared for an emergency?
I just do not understand, it sounds like a slow code, they take their time getting it taken care of, no urgency!

Never mind MJ, we also lost the great 60's garage & psychedelic rock legend Sky 'Sunlight' Saxon! Little known but sorely missed... RIP SKY.

I think the funeral should be private, and should be a public memorial service that if the family decide they want it.
We all know and love Michael, but right now the family needs to come together and grieve privately.
