Michael Jackson's will leaves everything to family
Wednesday, 1 July 2009
Television news trucks line the road outside the front gates of Neverland Ranch as preparations are made for memorial services for singer Michael Jackson on June 30, 2009 near Los Olivos, California
Michael Jackson's seven-year-old will published today gives his entire estate to a family trust but cuts out his former wife Debbie Rowe.
The will, dated July 7, 2002, estimated his estate at that time at more than £300 million.
It gives the entire estate to the Michael Jackson Family Trust.
The documents said Jackson's estate consisted almost entirely of "non-cash, non-liquid assets, including primarily an interest in a catalogue of music royalty rights which is currently being administered by Sony ATV, and the interests of various entities," referring to the Beatles' song rights he co-owned.
Meanwhile a Jackson source told the Associated Press news agency that no public memorial was planned for Neverland on Friday, contradicting earlier reports.
The source said it appeared more likely a funeral and burial will take place in Los Angeles. The family has the final say.
It said billionaire Thomas Barrack, who owns Neverland in a joint venture with Jackson, sought an exemption to bury the singer at the ranch, but getting permission is a complicated process and it could not be done for a burial this week.
