Michael Schumacher fighting lung infection
Michael Schumacher has contracted a lung infection while still lying in a coma, according to a German newspaper.
The ex-Formula One world champion is in a medically-induced coma at Grenoble hospital in France after a skiing accident caused serious swelling of the brain.
German daily Bild reported that the consequences of Schumacher's latest health scare were unpredictable.
It claimed he had contracted the infection last week and was being treated with strong anti-biotics, but did not quote any source.
Schumacher's spokeswoman Sabine Kehm told the newspaper: "We are not commenting on speculation."
Schumacher has been comatose for almost 50 days after he hit his head on a rock while skiing in the French Alps.
His medical team began the slow process of wakening him up from the coma at the end of January.
Last week, doctors were forced to deny a rumour that the 45-year-old had died.
