A Dutch dolphin park is preparing to transfer a young killer whale to an amusement park in Spain after conservationists lost a legal battle to have her released.
Early on Tuesday morning the 1,400kg (3,085lb) female orca named Morgan was hoisted by crane into the tank, where she is resting in a hammock that restrains her movement. She is being kept wet by trainers.
Her container will be put in a plane and flown to Loro Parque on the Spanish island of Tenerife, said spokesman Bert van Plateringen.
The city of Harderwijk has issued an emergency ban blocking "Free Morgan" demonstrations during the transfer.
Morgan, who is aged three, was rescued in 2010.
