Morsi spends night in hospital

Egypt's ousted president Mohammed Morsi spent his first night in prison in a hospital room after he complained he wasn't feeling well, according to security officials.

Morsi was transferred to a maximum security prison in a remote desert area near Alexandria after his first trial session was adjourned to January 8.

It was his first appearance since he was ousted in July. Since then he has been held in a secret military facility.

Upon arrival to the prison, the 62-year-old complained of high blood pressure and high blood sugar, officials said.

He was taken to a prison hospital room with a separate bathroom and a TV. The Interior Ministry said he was receiving regular check-ups.
