Four people including a two-month-old girl have been found dead in a hotel room in Alaska, in a tragedy that is being treated as a combination of murder and suicide.

Police said all the dead had gunshot wounds and there are no signs that drugs or alcohol were involved.

Police and fire services found a man crying as he sat in a second-floor hallway of a Hampton Inn when they were called by hotel staff on Friday. The man directed officers to a nearby room where they found the bodies.

The victims were identified as 54-year-old Linda Hutton, 22-year-old Emily McDonald, 22-year-old McKay Hutton and eight-week-old Teagan Hutton.

Autopsies are due to be performed on the victims.
