It's an image which captures Prince Harry's love of the natural world as the royal gets up close and personal with an elephant - albeit a sedated one - during a visit to South Africa's Kruger National Park.

The prince also met a star of the anti-poaching world - Killer the dog - a six-year-old Belgian Malinois who is South Africa's most successful poacher catcher and works at the park.

During his working life, Killer has caught more than 115 hunters and goes out into the bush with a team of armed rangers.

After touring a centre at the park, where staff co-ordinate their operational and intelligence response to poaching, the prince saw Killer and his handler.

Earlier the canine, who has been described as calm-natured, bit a member of the British High Commission on the arm. The prince had spent 10 days at the park during the summer when he worked as a conservation volunteer.Harry (left) will call on South Africa's controversial President Jacob Zuma today, the final day of his four-day tour, and will honour the memory of one of the nation's greatest sons - Nelson Mandela.
