The daughter of Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi has said she was amazed by the attention her father lavished on a teenage model, in a rare criticism of the scandal-hit leader by one of his children.

Barbara Berlusconi (25) told Vanity Fair that politicians ought to uphold the values they preach publicly in their private lives.

Jogger in horror dog attack

A New Zealand jogger “looked like a blob of blood” after eight pig-hunting dogs attacked her as she ran past a property on the North Island, her husband said. Margit Christensen (36) curled into a foetal position to protect herself during the 15-minute attack, which saved her.

‘Trousergate’ women protest

Sudanese police fired tear gas and beat women protesting outside a court yesterday during the trial of Lubna Hussein, a former UN worker who is accused of violating the Islamic dress code by wearing trousers in public. She faces 40 lashes if found guilty of “indecent dressing”. The judge delayed her trial to September.
