Nobel laureate bids for presidency
Nobel peace laureate Rigoberta Menchu has officially registered as a candidate in Guatemala's presidential election.
Husband Angel Canil said the campaign has been officially notified that her candidacy was accepted.
Other parties have three days to file any objections to her place on the September 11 ballot.
Ms Menchu received the 1992 Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of her work for peace during Guatemala's civil war, particularly on behalf of indigenous people.
She is a member of the Quiche ethnic group.
She ran unsuccessfully in Guatemala's 2007 presidential election.
