North Carolina: One dead in Wayne County Community College shooting
One person has been confirmed dead in a shooting on the campus of Wayne County Community College in Goldsboro, North Carolina, according to CNN.
The campus was put on lockdown early Monday morning and one person was shot in the library, according to reports from the scene. That person has since died, according to Goldsboro City Manager Scott Stevens.
A message on the school’s website warned students of the shooting.
It read “This is not a drill. The entire campus is under lockdown.”
The SWAT team is on the scene and reports say the shooter is still at large.
Kim Best, spokeswoman for the city of Goldsboro, says there is one victim in the campus shooting at Wayne County Community College in Goldsboro. She says that person is dead but did not give any other details.
Ms Best says the shooter is not in custody. She would not say whether the gunman is still on campus.
Wayne County assistant operations manager Daniel Wiggins says 911 received a call at about 8am of an active gunman on campus.
Authorities are searching the area for a white male, about 5 ft 11 tall with a goatee and a tattoo over his eye. Mr Wiggins said he does not know what type of firearm is involved.
