Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps is ordered to quit drink
Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps has been ordered to stop drinking for 18 months after pleading guilty to drink-driving.
The 18-time gold medallist was arrested on September 30 by police who said he was clocked at 84mph in a 45mph zone. Phelps (29) was leaving the Horseshoe Casino in central Baltimore when he was pulled over.
He registered a .14% on a blood-alcohol test - the legal limit to drive in Maryland is .08%. USA Swimming have suspended Phelps for six months.
"I'm finding out a lot about myself, and for this day I'm happy to be moving forward, and I'll continue to grow from this and continue to be on my path to recovery," Phelps said outside the Baltimore City District Court.
