Passengers safe despite plane engine blaze in Florida
A plane's engine dramatically caught fire on the runway of an airport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, yesterday.
All passengers were evacuated safely, although seven were taken to hospital.
The fire was extinguished quickly, said a spokesman for Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
The Dynamic Airways Boeing 767 was taxiing for take-off to go to Venezuela when the left engine, which had been leaking fuel, caught fire.
"The crew followed the emergency procedures, shut down the engine and evacuated the aircraft in order to assure safety to all on board," the company said in a statement.
