Pistorius' brother hurt in crash

Carl Pistorius, brother of Oscar Pistorius, has been badly injured in a car crash

Oscar Pistorius' brother Carl has been "badly hurt" in a car accident after a head-on collision in South Africa.

Arnold Pistorius, the brothers' uncle, says Carl Pistorius was involved in a "serious car accident" on Friday night while he was returning home from a business trip in the northern city of Polokwane.

Carl Pistorius was reported to be have sustained multiple fractures. Arnold Pistorius said today that Carl "was badly hurt but we are thankful that he is out of danger". He said Carl Pistorius had been transferred to a hospital in Pretoria.

Carl Pistorius went on trial and was acquitted last year of a negligent killing charge after being involved in a road accident in 2008 in which a female motorcyclist died.
