Pistorius is admitted to hospital with 'chest pains'
Jailed athlete Oscar Pistorius has been taken from prison to hospital for medical examinations, with South African media reporting that he was complaining of chest pains.
South African Department of Corrections spokesman Logan Maistry initially said that Pistorius was taken to hospital and was expected to return to prison later the same day.
However, Mr Maistry later announced that the runner would stay overnight in hospital "for observation".
He declined to give specific details of Pistorius's medical complaint.
Pistorius, a double-amputee Olympic runner and multiple Paralympic champion, is serving a six-year jail term for murder after he shot his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp ,dead on Valentine's Day in 2013.
He has served a year of his sentence.
