Two Sonoma County deputies saw Andy Lopez walking with the weapon at about 3pm local time in Santa Rosa. They repeatedly ordered him to drop it before firing several rounds.
The boy fell to the ground. Deputies handcuffed him and began administering first aid, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. They also found a plastic handgun in his waistband.
