Police shot dead with own gun in bloody rampage
A police officer responding to a domestic call in Louisiana in which three women were stabbed - one fatally - was a cousin of the man accused of then shooting him with his own weapon.
Police Chief Luis Padilla said Sunset officer Henry Nelson, 51, was shot dead on his last day at work before starting a month's holiday. He had planned to spend it with his teenage daughter, who lives out of the area.
St Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said the officer was shot, apparently with his own weapon, when he answered a call about a multiple stabbing in Sunset.
When he arrived he found one woman dead and two others seriously injured.
The suspect, Lee Riley, the husband of one of the injured women, was arrested after his car crashed into the front of a shop.
Authorities said 35-year-old Riley will be charged with the first-degree murder of Mr Nelson and 40-year-old Shameka Johnson, and with attempted first-degree murders of his wife, Courtney Riley, and Johnson's 34-year-old sister, Shurlay Johnson.
