President teased over taupe suit

Tongues are wagging over Barack Obama's audacity to wear taupe.

The sight of the president discussing possible US military action in Syria in a light-coloured suit lit up Twitter and the reviews of his unusual fashion choice were less than fashionable.

Many tweets poked fun at slogans closely associated with Mr Obama.

"Taupe and change," says one tweet. "The audacity of taupe," says another, tweaking the title of one of Mr Obama's best-selling books, The Audacity Of Hope.

"Yes, we tan," said a third.

Gallows humour even came into play, with one tweeter suggesting the death penalty for whoever chose that colour for Mr Obama, who typically wears dark suits.

In 2009, the president was panned for wearing "mom jeans" to throw the first pitch at the All-Star Game.
