Russia has sent its newest and most potent warplane, the Su-35 Flanker-E, to support airstrikes in Syria. The multirole fighter jet is considered to be more than a match for most current generation Western aircraft.

The deployment of four aircraft comes on the back of another alleged violation of Turkish airspace by a Russian Su-34 "Fullback" fighter-bomber on Friday.

The Su-35 would significantly outmatch Turkey's F-16C/D jets in any sudden confrontation at the border.
