Secret Service agents involved in head-on fatal crash

Four on-duty US Secret Service agents have been involved in a head-on collision that killed the driver of another car.

The accident happened at about 7pm local time on Tuesday in the town of Wakefield, New Hampshire.

It is not yet known in what capacity the agents were working, but Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was campaigning in a town hall meeting on Tuesday night in Berlin, north of Wakefield.

Police said the agents were passengers in a Ford Taurus heading south on a road when a northbound Mercury Sable carrying three people collided with it head-on.

The Sable driver, 45-year-old Bruce Danforth, died at the scene.

The agents and passengers in the other car were taken to hospital but their conditions are not known.

Police are investigating.

A Secret Service spokeswoman later said the agents suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries.
