Six killed by child suicide bombers in Nigeria

Three child suicide bombers have set off explosions in north-eastern Nigeria that killed six other people and left another 24 injured.

Nigerian a rmy spokesman Col Sani Kukasheka Usman said the three were aged between 10 and 15.

They attacked a security checkpoint in Benisheikh, a town in Borno State, on Sunday.

He added that the army had killed at least 12 Boko Haram fighters in an operation in the same state on Sunday.

Boko Haram's six-year Islamic uprising has killed an estimated 20,000 people in Nigeria and driven 2.3 million from their homes, according to Amnesty International and the United Nations.
