Star party for birthday girl Tilda

Oscar-winning actress Tilda Swinton has been honoured at a star-studded birthday bash at New York's Museum of Modern Art.

Singer David Bowie, actor Ralph Fiennes, designer Karl Lagerfeld, Vogue editor Anna Wintour and Mayor Michael Bloomberg were just a few of the celebrities who paid tribute to the actress at the 6th annual MoMA Film Benefit, on her 53rd birthday.

Swinton, who won the best supporting actress Oscar in 2008 for her portrayal of a ruthless lawyer in Michael Clayton, told the crowd it was her birthday, and that the last time she had a birthday party was when she was nine years old. She said this was a better party.

Fiennes introduced a montage of her work, including clips from the films Orlando, Burn After Reading and Michael Clayton.
