Stockholm explosion: Reports powerful blast in centre of Swedish capital 'caused by gas leak'
The 'powerful explosion' heard in Stockholm is likely to have been caused by a gas leak, according to reports.
The blast was heard at 11.40am local time in the area around Brännkyrkagatan on Södermalm, witnesses said.
Police have blocked off the street and emergency services are also at the scene.
Albin Birch bark Berg, spokesperson for the police in Stockholm told Aftonbladet: "We are there to investigate what happened, but at present it is unclear what happened."
Police also said there are "no signs of a crime" and the incident is likely not as large as first feared.
