Sydney 'backpack bomber' arrested after siege
A father who marched into a Sydney law office with his daughter and said he had a bomb in his backpack has been taken into custody after a tense, 12-hour standoff with police.
The man's daughter (12) was released and reunited with her family, New South Wales police said.
A police tactical team forced its way into the office after negotiations began to crumble.
Employee Betty Hor said the drama began when the man approached her and asked to see someone. He then told her to call the state attorney-general's department and "tell them I've got a bomb in my backpack".
Ms Hor called police as the man walked to a lawyer's office with the girl, who called him "Dad."
Dozens of police officers swarmed around the perimeter of the building.
The man is expected to appear in court today.
