Tanzania church attack kills woman

More than 40 people were hurt when a bomb exploded at the St Joseph Mfanyakazi Roman Catholic Church in Arusha, Tanzania (AP)

A woman died and 44 people were seriously injured when a bomb exploded in a Roman Catholic Church in northern Tanzania.

The regional police Commissioner of Arusha, Magesa Mulogo, said the woman died in hospital as a result of the bombing in the Arusha church just before mass.

Mr Mulogo said eyewitnesses reported that the bomb was thrown from a motorcycle into the church. He said the driver of the motorcycle had been arrested.
