Texas town sold on eBay for $3m

A US town's been bought for over $3 million on eBay.

Albert is a 13 acre historic settlement in the heart of Texas Hill Country.

It's made up of a house, dance hall, tavern and a schoolhouse - reportedly attended by former President Lyndon Johnson in 1920.

A private bidder snapped it up after its current owner decided to move on to a new project.

The town's current owner says he is checking the identity of the buyer, but is confident he had several other serious bids should the sale fall through.

"Four people that are interested are local. So I was in touch with them even before I put it on eBay," he said.

"This was really just something we came up with over a beer one evening, 'cos we thought it would be funny. And then it just turned into a worldwide phenomenon of people just thinking it was cute, funny, interesting, and so I think it'll end up selling to someone."
