At least three people have been killed and seven others injured when a bomb hidden in a parked motorcycle exploded in a crowded bazaar in a remote region of southern Helmand province, an Afghan official has said.
Omer Zawak, the spokesman for the provincial governor, said the blast happened at the market in the village of Safar.
Safar is 42 miles from the district centre of Garamser in the volatile province, where insurgents routinely stage deadly attacks.
Police spokesman Shah Mahmood Hashna said four children were among the wounded and two of them are in a critical condition.
Mr Zawak said he fears the toll could rise because so many people were in the area for the weekly bazaar.
