Three people have been killed and five wounded following a shooting in southern Germany.

Officers said the shooting occurred on Tuesday evening during a meeting of property owners in a restaurant in the village of Dossenheim near Heidelberg.

A police statement said that during the meeting heated words were exchanged and one man stormed out.

He returned later with a pistol and opened fire, killing two men and wounding five others before fatally shooting himself, according to the statement.
